Halaket El Samak, nestled along the Nile in Cairo's Zamalek district, promises a unique seafood dining experience that has garnered mixed reviews from patrons. The restaurant transitioned from a third-floor fish haven to a more accessible first-floor location, drawing attention with its stunning outdoor views of the river. While the ambience enchants, some guests have noted a slight decline in fish variety and portion sizes, particularly in their salads.
Dr. Neveen Sabra pointed out issues with staffing, mentioning that the waiters seemed overwhelmed during peak times. In contrast, Zey Ley's experience improved significantly on a second visit, highlighting the delightful fish and shrimp dishes, complemented by refreshing mint tea. The standout Lemon Butter Shrimp Casserole, beloved by Samar Elelemy, showcases comfort food at its best, despite minor criticisms about some dishes like the dry Burma Seafood bites.
Overall, Halaket El Samak boasts an impressive seafood menu, a welcoming staff, and breathtaking scenery. However, consistent attention to service and menu variety will further enhance its reputation as a go-to seafood destination in Cairo.

Reviews for Halaket El Samak
Review highlights
Based on 581 reviewsHalaket El Samak is praised for its diverse seafood offerings and scenic views, particularly of the Nile, enhancing the overall dining experience. Customers frequently highlight standout dishes like shrimp casseroles and grilled seafood, while salads receive mixed feedback due to portion sizes. The restaurant’s ambiance, including outdoor seating, is generally appreciated, though lighting and crowd capacity during peak times affect comfort and service quality. Some diners note inconsistencies in fish variety compared to previous visits, and service can be strained during busy periods due to limited staff. Pricing is considered on the higher side, reflecting its premium location and menu. Overall, Halaket El Samak is valued for quality food and atmosphere, with room for improvements in service and menu variety.
They are serving 2 restaurants in one place moving the fish restaurant from third floor to the first floor with studio misr. The salads are good but small amounts. Fish variety is not as before. The waiters are not enough. Outdoor area has a nice view. Wasn’t crowded. Prices not cheap.
Delicious Lebanese food and good view of Nile river
We ordered and are waiting to review the food. The outside seating on the 4th of May was so nice, although the light was not enough to eat fish with thorns They need to make things more professional
We ate fish and shrimp. It was really wonderful. Place was very crowded at Saturday night so waiters couldnt help us so much but we went Sunday night again and they helped us so much in everything. How a delicious fish and shrimp and the tea with mint after food...
Amazing Seafood Menu. I am in love with the Lemon Butter Shrimp Casserole, despite the face that I don't usually prefer shrimps with the tail on. This is an amazing comfort non-healthy shrimp casserole! Grilled Caviar was very good, a little bit dry, but still delicious. Squid Casserole and the grilled Lout Fish were good. The Soup was delicious. Only these Burma Sea Food bites were dry and disappointing. Staff were welcoming, friendly, and highly responsive. Ambience is refreshing at the outdoor seating area. The view was amazing. I am definitely visiting this place many more times.
It is one of the best sea food restaurants i have ever visited, starting from the food and prices until the service and experience. Firstly the restaurant is in a boat called nile City and it's located on its roof .. so you can enjoy a very relaxing and breathtaking view of the nile and the Egyptian Museum and the cairo Tower . It's the best place to watch a sunset while you enjoy your sea food soup . A small comment about the outdoor part is that it is not the best thing as there are small flies and spiders, which is not great in experience. But overall, i can rate it at 9 out of 10
The food was delicious, service was ok but could be better. We sat outside, and the table wasn’t clean, we had to clean it and asked the waiter to clean it again. We asked for none spicy dish, but they brought it spicy, so we had to ask for a replacement. Overall the view and food were good so that I would go back again.
